Advanced TEM Characterization Methods of Complex Nanostructures

Abstract:
In recent years, special interest is focused on synthesis of complex nanostructures, which could find their application niches in nanotechnology. When the sizes of the objects of interest are converged below micrometer, it is becoming a challenge to evaluate their physical properties. A solution is given by the advanced TEM techniques combined with electron holography, EDXS and EELS spectroscopy. The combined analytical approach is a key to a whole understanding of the properties of complex nanostructures. In the presented case study, various nanostructures, such as metallic nanotubes and nanospheres were characterized by employing aforementioned TEM techniques.
